 Our Credentials

At Moores we adopt high environmental standards within all our operations. The company is committed to working in a manner designed to ensure the protection of the environment, its employees, neighbours and the wider community.

Moores environmental improvement initiatives started over 20 years ago, with the installation of the first of our two wood waste boilers. Since then Moores have led the industry in relation to sustainable practices and consideration of the environment. The details below are a highlight of some of our achievements, please contact our head office to understand how this approach can help your business.

We have also been honoured with the LHC Network Innovation in Sustainability Award as well as the Masco Innovation Award as acknowledgement of our sustainable practices.

BS EN ISO 14001:2004

It may not have a catchy title, but the internationally recognised BS EN ISO 14001:2004 systems sets the standard for environmental management across the globe. Moores have been accredited to the standard for some years now, which means we're taking an ongoing and proactive approach to every aspect of environmental management throughout the company.

Forestry Stewardship Council

Moores is thrilled to have been awarded the FSC Chain of Custody certification, which means our certified wood comes from responsibly managed sources.

FSC is an internationally recognised organisation that promotes the responsible management of the worlds forests. FSC Chain of Custody certification provides a guarantee about the production of FSC certified products, right from raw materials in the forest to the end customer, including all the successive stages of processing.

Club Green

We're proud of our environmental practices but it's always good to have a second opinion, which is why Moores joined the Furniture Industry Research Association's Club Green more than 14 years ago. Club Green conduct regular independent audits of Moores covering all aspects of our operations, including timber purchasing, energy use, solvent use, packaging and waste amongst other things. Only when Club Green are 100% FIRA's strict criteria has been met do they issue our company certificate.

FISP

FISP (Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme) was launched in 2006 and was developed by an industry wide working group chaired by FIRA. All of the industry's main trade associations are supporting this initiative as well as other influential bodies such as Groundwork and Envirowise.

The Furniture Industry Sustainability Programme is focused on sustainable development which includes minimising our consumption of materials and natural resources, reducing our wastes and protecting the environment whilst maintaining business growth and employment.

Moores gained FISP certification in May 2006 and continues to play an active role as members of the FISP Steering Committee.
